Description of Kobudo

Kobudo is a Japanese term that means "old martial way" and is previously known as Kobujutsu, which means "old martial arts" It may also refer to Koryu meaning "old/traditional school". Both Kobudo and Koryu refer to martial arts with an ancient system that predates the Meiji restoration and has been handed down from one generation to another. Kobudo must not be confused with and is not a shortened term used to refer to Okinawan kobudo. Battojutsu, Bojutsu, Jujutsu and Ninjutsu are some examples of Kobudo.
